I can honestly say that I found the therapy to be extremely beneficial as it has helped greatly with stress release and it has improved my sleep considerably.
At first the whole process seemed a bit strange but I did a bit of additional research and determined that the Psoas muscle, which is the main muscle activated in the therapy is often referred to as the “Survival Muscle” as it helps us deal with tension associated with the “fight or Flight” reflex. We humans are not so good at dealing with these responses and our modern day lifestyle causes us to store up huge amounts of stress.
Another interesting fact that I discovered was that if a lion chases a buck and the buck manages to get away it will go and throw itself down on the ground and tremor violently for a while and then walk off as if nothing had happened !! This is because it has released the stress. We humans can learn so much from nature.
Marlene has extensive knowledge in this form of therapy has a wonderful way of working with her clients. She was able to make me feel completely relaxed and comfortable but was also very professional. She could also be rather persuasive – she managed to get me to hug myself at the end of each session, and I am not a hugger !

Marléne has worked closely with me over the past few months and it has been a phenomenal experience. I started doing a few Pilates classes to see if it will assist with my recovery with an injury I obtained. I spoke to Marléne about it and she suggested that I could try out the TRE sessions as it assists with tension release and could quite possibly help with the issue that I have with my Psoas.
I was a bit nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. Upon my first group session, I was very warmly welcomed and felt quite comfortable. After my first session, I already felt a bit more at ease. It was an odd experience but I felt good about it.
I went on to doing some private sessions with Marléne as well and I enjoyed every second of it. There were some tough days, where a lot of tears were involved, especially in the beginning but never once did I feel judged or unsupported. The TRE sessions not only helped me become a happier person, it has also made me calmer, it helped me think more clearly about things and one of the most important things for me is that my pain has been much less. The TRE sessions have really helped with the discomfort I have been experiencing due to my injury and it has helped with my mobility in the area of my injury. My muscle, and emotional, tension have both improved tremendously since starting the sessions.
Being a person that suffers from “chronic depression”, I sometimes end up in a very dark place in my mind. One of the toughest challenges is to get out of that state of mind once I’m there. I have seen many psychologists over the years and never have I felt this good after being there. I had a few life coaching sessions with Marléne as well and her advice and techniques when working with me has really helped me along the way. She has held my hand through a few tough times and I feel so privileged to have been able to do these sessions with her. She is caring, professional, makes sure you are comfortable and at ease and she is truly great at what she does.

I was skeptical as to the process and benefits of TRE. Marléne was very professional and thorough in explaining the process to me. After 7 sessions I feel that I am a lot more aware of my body and am much better at being realistic with expectations of myself. This is a valuable life skill that I have learnt and will apply it often.
I was not quite sure what to expect from coaching as I had never considered discussing the way I feel with anyone as I do not like to talk about my feelings. I doubted the process as Marléne and myself do not only have a business relationship, but also interact on a personal level. My sincere thanks for accepting me as a client to guide and teach me the TRE Process. Very unusual personal circumstances were affecting pretty much my entire mind and as a result this was seriously affecting my ability to concentrate on work – and as the sole “bread winner” this then compounded the stress I was under.
The TRE sessions themselves, which I had never heard of before, forced me to focus on the exercise and I found this alone peaceful as then other thoughts moved into the background – where I found myself, with our discussions, (subconsciously) easier to rationally review and deal with them.

I did not experience major trauma or an incident where I needed emotional help. I was feeling ‘stuck’ and frustrated with myself, which caused an inner anger and affected the relationships in my life. Sometimes we don’t even know that something is wrong with us because we’ve been living like that for so long. It’s amazing what happens when one just talks about these things with a trained practitioner who knows exactly which questions to ask and how to plant an emotional seed to get one thinking about yourself, and others, differently.
And that’s the success story: as I think I told you, about a month or so after I “graduated from my 8 week TRE Process” the TRE released my knot of frantic panic which was keeping me ill, and I started getting well and gaining weight surely and steadily. Which was already a big turnaround, and enabled me to take a self sufficient flat in a retirement facility instead of assisted living I am gaining more than 2kg per month now, and weigh 50kg already! Only about 10 more to go now. And I get stronger every day. Also, I can drive again, so that I can visit my parents and do chores for them.But the big win happened during the move, which is partly why I haven’t gotten round to writing yet, as it was REALLY hectic, and as I said, I’m still getting settled.
I CAN SING AGAIN! This was my main goal for TRE, as you know, and at one stage I must admit I thought it would never happen, but between my Bowen treatments (where she concentrated on the locked jaw) and the tremors, something shifted. I am still probably a bit weak to do long stretches, but am planning to join a choir. It is a huge relief and release from all that pent up grief, and if the Ampelopsis drops do the job on my arthritis, I might even have a normal life again.
I also use myself as an example for my mom, and she has been tremoring fairly regularly herself as well. She says it helps, and I think she’s getting a little less strung out. At any rate she didn’t collapse after the move like we all expected, and has said she’s not going to let the stress get her down.
